Three time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart will finally get to kick-off his farewell tour. NASCAR.com has released that Tony Stewart will return to action this weekend at Richmond International Speedway. Stewart suffered from a burst fracture in his back in the closing weeks before the 2016 Daytona 500.
Stewart will get behind the wheel of his #14 Chevy for the first time since last November. Smoke will have much adversity in his return, including his quest to find victory lane for the first time since early 2013 (Dover).
Details have not been given as to whether Stewart will receive a medical waiver and be eligible for this years Chase. ***Since this blog was first published, NASCAR has released a statement confirming that Tony Stewart will receive a medical waiver and and be Chase eligible in 2016.***
